The Columbia Physics faculty carry out research programs across a diverse set of fields, within the following broad categories:

Many of the faculty also collaborate with faculty, students and researchers in other departments at Columbia, including AstronomyBiology, Chemistry, Math and numerous departments in the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science. Research is carried out both on campus (primarily in Pupin Hall, Schapiro Hall, and the Northwest Corner Building) and at Columbia's Nevis Laboratories, as well as at laboratories and research facility sites around the world.
