Research Interest

I got my PhD from Scuola Normale Superiore (Pisa) in 2003. I worked as a postdoc first at the Instituto de Estructura de la Materia in Madrid and then at Harvard University. I joined the Columbia faculty in 2007.

I started my career working in gravitational physics and cosmology, but over the years I have moved more and more towards quantum field theory (QFT). In particular, now my research focuses on the one hand on structural aspects of QFT, and on the other hand on applications of effective field theory to different phases of matter: fluids, superfluids, solids, supersolids, and generalizations thereof.
